What to review for the Data Management test

Grades 5 and  6

Be able to give examples of each of the three ways we've used to collect data:

  1. Observation
  2. Survey
  3. Experiment
What is the difference between primary and secondary data? Give examples.


Know how to create intervals for tallying data and use them to make a bar graph. Remember:

  • all numbers in the set must be included
  • numbers cannot be duplicated
  • intervals must be equal in size
Grade 5 - Be able to:
  • create a broken line graph
  • calculate the mean and find the mode of a data set
Grade 6 - Be able to:
  • create a line graph
  • find the mean and the median of a data set
