Art Journals: What do you love?

February is the month we celebrate Valentine's Day and so our theme this session was what we love. We used corrugated cardboard to scrape and stamp paint creating a background for cut out images. Using the layering technique, we built up our pages with superb results.

Art Journals: Learning some new techniques for page building

Today Anna showed us how to use paper napkins and strips of paper to create cool effects and borders. We've added some images and words from magazines, scrapbook paper and other sources to complete a page or a two page spread.

Art Journals: Assembling the books

Today Anna and my daughter Jahn cut the large sheets of paper to make the individual pages of our art journals. They assembled the pages and bound them with cord. Thanks for doing such an awesome job.  Don't they look amazing? We're looking forward to our next creative session, which will be scheduled before the holidays.

Art Journals: Prepping the paper

We had a lot of fun during our first session with parent volunteer Anna when we painted, stamped and collaged our large sheets of watercolour paper that will be made into our art journals. Each month, Anna will do a workshop with us on a specific technique and/or theme. Many thanks to the |King George School Council for providing the funds for this special paper and to Anna for inspiring us to get creative.
