Art Journals: Prepping the paper
We had a lot of fun during our first session with parent volunteer Anna when we painted, stamped and collaged our large sheets of watercolour paper that will be made into our art journals. Each month, Anna will do a workshop with us on a specific technique and/or theme. Many thanks to the |King George School Council for providing the funds for this special paper and to Anna for inspiring us to get creative.

That's My Hair by G. B. Lipson
My hair is high and curly
It's wavy and it's swirly
I wash it and I squeeze it
I mousse it and I tease it
It's long and short and fluffy-poo
It's thick and rich and bleached so true
If I have a bad hair day
I glue it stiff with clouds of spray
It takes a lot of loving care
To tease and train humongous hair!
Brains and soul may tell a story
But gorgeous hair is a crowning glory!
Acrostic:
- Write the word vertically
- Write a short phrase starting with each letter of the word
- Does not need to rhyme or have lines of equal syllables
Patterns by Mrs Lloyd Thomas
Placing shapes down
Adding makes an increasing pattern
Tables organize your work
Try to solve it
Explain your answer
Remember to write the rule
Never give up on the answer
Definition:
- start with the question (Who are, What is)
- 10 phrases that define the topic
- does not have to rhyme
Relatives by Room 13
What are relatives?
family that love and care for you
can be obnoxious and annoying
fight with you over the holidays
embarrass you in front of your friends
pinch your cheeks and hug you too tight
love you a lot deep inside
call you snuggums, poochyface, guppy or Mr. Pants
sometimes live far away
make you laugh
are one part of your life you should keep by your side
Those are relatives.

What are books?
Books drag you into the story
Dreaming night and day about the story
Some characters do crazy thing
Books attract the eye
Look at words that tell a little story
Book clubs talk about books they suggest
Books are fun they have a great story inside
Comic books are types of books
Funny, happy, sad scary they all have a story
Just have a little imagination to a great STORY!
Those are books.
Definition Poem by N. F.
What are
books?
Something you can get lost in
Are awesome
Have love in them
Are scary
Sometime they are very funny
Sometime they are very wacky
Can be about real things
Can make people laugh
Can make people cry
That’s what
books are.

Definition Poem By L.H.
What are Superheroes and villains?
The ones who are always there in time
Have cool posers such as speed, shrinking, claws
You don’t need powers to be a super hero
Sometimes have parent issues
Sometimes villains go good
Sometimes heroes go bad
Villains are greedy!!!
Villains always try to take over the world
Villains are sometimes ugly
Super heroes always look cool
Those are super heroes.Dates to Remember

Hexaduad Poems
Minecraft By T. R-P
In Minecraft there is betty
She is not the slightest petty
In Minecraft there are games
and Youtubers with fame
I mined the diamond ore
now I extremely need more
Hey look it's Herobrine
He attacked it was not fine
Hey look an ocelot
I like them a lot!
Herobrine is fast
Hey look, a ghast
Animals by N.F.
Monkeys swing from tree to tree
and that makes them feel so free
Dolphins like to splash and play
In the ocean every day
Cats like to climb up walls
and sometimes cough-up hair balls
Polar bears are mean and scary
One day they ate poor old Mary
Gophers dig tunnels underground
they're quiet and don't make a sound
Rabbits hop fast and high
and always wear a tie
Minecraft by S.B.
I think I saw a big ender man
My Minecraft skin is a slender man
I saved the Minecraft lord
And got a diamond sword
I found some villagers
They were big pillagers
I have a big fork
Time to get some pork
I just met the duke
He gave me a nuke
I found a cave full of spiders
They said they would bite big liars
Animals by L.W.
Some animals are very fast
Some of them always come in last
There is something that I admire
It's birds sitting on a wire
Some beasts are very tall
And some of them are extremely small
Some animals are really old
And some of them are tiny, or so I am told
I saw a guy named Larry
Trying to find a canary
Some animals are soft
Some sleep in a tree aloft
In Minecraft there is betty
She is not the slightest petty
In Minecraft there are games

now I extremely need more
